Every weekend Sailing Regattas are held by CMYC and winners awarded prizes. For the first time in the history of sailing in Sri Lanka, a Sea Sailing Regatta from Panadura to Gall over a period of 3 days was organized by CMYC with the association of YASL & SLNSC. Once a month RCYC conduct Sailing Championships and 4 major Windsurfing Events are held by Bentota Windsurf Club. As a result of the Ruhunu Sailing Association, events are being held outside Colombo. A large number of Junior Sailors from low- income groups’ families are now participating in the training. The Sri Lanka Navy is sponsoring the Navy Cup Regatta & giving their fullest co-operation for all major events of the Association. Every year the National Sailing Festival, where all classes of Boats take part, is held by YASL. Optimist Class Sailing is provided by YASL with free coaching.
